Prior to my work in the United States, I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Iran at Kamal-ol-Molk University and Drizhno University of Arts, where I offered courses in Advanced Directing, History of Theatre in Iran, Contemporary Western Theatre Theories, Theatre in Asia, Comparative Eastern and Western Theatre Theories, Fundamentals of Directing, History of Western Theater, Ritual and Traditional Performance, Performance Styles and Methods, Voice and Speech Training, Mime and Pantomime, Dance and Choreography, Acting Techniques, and Cinema Studies. I also taught professional workshops and conservatory-style courses in acting, dramaturgy, directing, and performance methods at several theatre schools and training institutions across Iran.
My teaching bridges theory and practice, connecting theatre history, dramatic literature, performance studies, and dramaturgy with creative experimentation and embodied performance. I am particularly interested in contemporary and avant-garde theatre, global performance traditions, Middle Eastern theatre, and interdisciplinary approaches to performance. Across all courses, I emphasize critical inquiry, collaborative learning, and the development of students as both thoughtful scholars and engaged theatre-makers.
